Wissenschaftliches Interesse
Mein wissenschaftliches Interesse liegt in der Entwicklung und Nutzung neuer isotopengeochemischer Methoden und Archive für moderne und paläozeanographische Fragestellungen. Ein wesentlicher Teil dieser Forschung dient dabei der Kalibration neuer mariner Archive.
Meine Hauptinteressen liegen
- in der Zirkulation des Südozeans, insbesondere der Stabilität des Antarktischen Tiefenwasserexports von aktuellen bis hin zu känozoischen Zeitskalen,
- auf atmosphärischen Kohlenstoffkreislauf-Veränderungen während globaler klimatischer Krisen der Erdgeschichte, zum Beispiel während des Paläozänen-Eozänen Thermalen Maximums vor 56 Millionen Jahren oder während der Perm-Trias-Grenze vor circa 250 Millionen Jahren,
- in der Entwicklung neuer isotopengeochemischer Werkzeuge zur Rekonstruktion vergangener Klimatrends und einhergehender Verwitterungsprozesse der mittleren und hohen Breiten,
- in der Rekonstruktion des Abschmelzens des nordamerikanischen Laurentischen Eisschilds und damit einhergehender Schmelzwasser-Umlenkprozesse, sowie deren Konsequenzen für die arktische und atlantische Zirkulation während des letzten Deglazials vor circa 18 bis 11 Tausend Jahren.
