Overview

Kiel is divided by the Kiel Fjord into two parts which is usually referred to as west shore and east shore. The meeting location is situated on the east shore in a residential/industrial area and most restaurants and hotels are located in the west shore part of town. Both buses and a ferry connect the west shore and east shore.

Below is a list of hotels that we can recommend. They are many more in the downtown area on the west shore where you can also find restaurants and bars for evening activities. If you choose a different accomodation from e.g. booking.com, make sure it's not too far from the city centre as travel to/from the conference venue can get tricky.

Please note: Please book your accomodation as early as possible. The largest sailing event in the world (Kieler Woche) is happening in Kiel just after the workshop so hotels might be fully booked early.

  • Pro: Nice location, walking distance (10 min) to ferry and restaurants/bars for evening activities
  • Cons: None that we know of
• Comfort Hotel Tom Kyle
  • Pro: Nice location, walking distance (15 min) to ferry and restaurants/bars for evening activities
  • Cons: Small hotel, so it might be fully booked very soon.
• Adagio Access Hotel (next to Ibis Styles)
  • Pro: Central location, new hotel
  • Cons: You have to take two buses to get to the meeting location, or walk for 20min to the ferry / take a bus to the ferry stop. Not as close as other hotles to most bars and restaurants in town.

  • Pro: Central location, new hotel
  • Cons: You have to take two buses to get to the meeting location, or walk for 20min to the ferry / take a bus to the ferry stop. Not as close as other hotels to most bars and restaurants in town.
• unique by ATLANTIC Hotels Kiel
  • Pro: Brand new, next to the train station, central bus station, frequent buses to the venue, and to restaurants and bars.
  • Cons: most restaurants and bars not in walking distance. Might be a bit noisy as it is located on a major road. You will miss the scenic ferry ride to and from the venue.

  • Pro: New modern hotel, close to central bus station, frequent buses to the venue, and to restaurants and bars
  • Most restaurants and bars not in walking distance. You will miss the scenic ferry ride to and from the venue unless you walk  for 25 mins.
• ATLANTIC Hotel Kiel
  • Pro: Next to the train station, central bus station, frequent buses to the venue, and to restaurants and bars.
  • Cons: Expensive for Kiel standards, most restaurants and bars not in walking distance. You will miss the scenic ferry ride to and from the venue.
• Maritim Hotel Kiel
  • Pro: Very nice location, if you're lucky you get a room with Fjord view.
  • Most restaurants and bars involve a 10 to 20min walk. You have to take a bus (or walk 20min along the Fjord) to get to the ferry to the eastshore.
• Hotel am Segelhafen
  • Pro: two minutes walk to the meeting location, simple but clean hotel
  • Cons: No restaurants or bars around that we can recommend. Going downtown for dinner or a drink involves lengthy bus rides and/or a ferry trip.
