6000 m Deep Sea Winch

  • manufacturer: Hatlapa GmbH
  • 2 electrical motors with 80 kW, 400 V/50 Hz (3 Ph.)
  • electrical re-feeding unit
  • automatic spooling system with seperate 10 kW motor
  • different cables with a bending radius of 450mm may be used
  • 6500 m ROV-deep sea cable (umbilical) in 19 layers (NSW GmbH)
  • approx.. 150 kN tractive force with 0-50 m/min in 2nd layer
  • breaking force: approx. 30 t
  • slip ring (Ramert) with 3 optical fibres
  • water cooling of the outer layers
  • optinal remote control (cabled control unit)
  • winch is permanently mounted on 20' containerbase
  • total weight: 30 t incl. cable

One special feature of the winch is the possibility to run the cable lengthwise or orthogonal to the winch's axis.

Deep Sea Cable:

  • manufacturer: Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH
  • 19 mm outer diameter; 6500 m length
  • 3 steel armoured layers
  • weight: 1300 kg/km in air; 1000 kg/km in water
  • 240 kN theoretical breaking load
  • 400 mm minimal bending radius
  • 3 copper wires (4160 VAC) @ 4 mm2
  • 3 optical fibres (single mode)
  • tested following AODC guidelines

To uncouple the vehicle from ship movements and to keep the cable clear of the ROV, 10-12 floats are attached the outermost 50 – 70 m of the umbilical just above the ROV.
