Education
2020-Present | Doctoral researcher at GEOMAR Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel
2018-2020 | International Master’s Program in Geophysics Ludwig-Maximillians University, Munich and Technical University Munich
2017 | Deep River Field Course, University of Toronto, Canada
2017 | Exchange Semester at Lund University, Sweden
2014-2018 | B.Sc. Geophysics Specialist with a Physics Minor at the University of Toronto, Canada |
Internships and Research Experience
2019
| LMU Munich, Germany. Research assistant (HiWi) to Dr. Florian L-Huillier. Retrieved rock samples, cut the samples to size, and performed tests on the samples. Presented the preliminary results at a group meeting at the LMU Magnetic Observatory. | |
2018-2019 | LMU Munich, Germany. Research assistant (HiWi) to the LMU Seismology Group. Project: Fixing bugs in the Python module ObsPy.
2018-2019
| LMU Munich, Germany. Research assistant (HiWi) to Professor Stuart Gilder. Project: Visited the borehole drill site of a geothermal project in Garching an der Alz and took samples from the material being brought up from the drill head. Measured the magnetic susceptibility of the samples, and then plotted this as a function of true vertical depth and interpreted the results. | |
2018
| University of Ottawa, Canada. Research assistant to Associate Professor Pascal Audet. Project: Testing a new method of earthquake depth estimation using auto-correlation of seismic traces. | |
2017
| Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. DAAD-RISE Internship funded by MITACS Canada, working directly with Dr. Marc Boxberg. Project: Measured ultrasound wave velocity through rock samples with varying levels of saturation. The poroelastic wave equation was then used to fit synthetic seismograms to observed seismograms as a way of inferring hydromechanical parameters. | |
2016
| University of Ottawa, Canada. Research assistant to Associate Professor Pascal Audet. Project: Investigating the seismic anisotropy of the Canadian High Arctic and Greenland. Participated in the EarthsCAN workshop aimed at exploring the possibility of a network of geoscience observatories across Canada. |
