Abstract:
Over the past 2 decades, the AMOC has been continuously observed by first one, and then multiple moored arrays.  From these arrays we have gained a wealth of understanding about the large-scale Atlantic circulation, dominant processes and—to some extent—timescales of variability.  I’ll give a brief overview of the observations to date, what we’ve learned, and the questions still open regarding methods of measuring transports, sources of variability, meridional connectivity, key processes.  I’ll also outline a few opportunities to answer a subset of these questions.
