- Inhalt
- This lecture will introduce key concepts and theoretical approaches to literature and culture, beginning with exemplary readings of literary texts from American and British literature. The lecture will give a survey of current theoretical approaches in English and American studies, place theoretical approaches in a wider systematic and historical context and present step-by-step case studies of working with theory (e.g. formalist approaches; cultural materialism, gender and queer studies; postcolonial studies). The lecture is taught in a flipped classroom format: The lecture time slot will be a reserved for question-and-answer session (ca. 45 mins.) on a 45-minute presentation with audio, available on OLAT.
Please keep in mind that the lecture is accompanied by Lecture Tutorials for BA students. MA students will teach the tutorials and take part in my Tutor mentoring / Tutorenbetreuung class.
Materials (presentations, primary texts, excerpts from theoretical texts) will be provided on OLAT.

The purpose of this class is to review the lecture, discuss the teaching materials that will be supplied and to support you in teaching the tutorials for BA students.
