Voraussetzungen: Inhaltlich vorausgesetzt werden Grundlagen der mikro- und makroökonomischen Theorie sowie der Einführung in die VWL. Empfehlenswert sind ebenfalls Grundlagen der statistischen Methoden oder der Ökonometrie. Der Besuch der Veranstaltung Arbeitsmarktökonomik wird nicht vorausgesetzt, aber empfohlen.

Die Anmeldung zu Seminaren des Instituts für VWL erfolgt im vorangehenden Semester über den Olat-Kurs Seminarvergabe BA-VWL . Vor Beginn des Seminars nehmen Sie entweder am Seminarvorbereitungskurs (4 Stunden, Angebot der ZBW) oder am Modul "Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten" (VWLwiWiAr-01a) Teil. Dies legt die Grundlagen zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten in der VWL und ist somit Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Seminarteilnahme.
- Inhalt
- Die/der Studierende soll neuere Entwicklungen zu be¬stimmten volkswirtschaftlichen Themen selbst recher¬chieren, eine Hausarbeit eigenständig anfertigen und deren Inhalt in einem Vortrag präsentieren. Dabei sollen sowohl Grundlagen des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens als auch Vortragstechniken eingeübt werden. Hierdurch sollen auch Grundlagen für die Anfertigung der Bachelor-Arbeit gelegt werden.
- Erwerb von Selbstkompetenz durch die Bearbeitung einer Themenstellung
- Erwerb von Methodenkompetenz (Technik wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens, Vortragstechniken, Medienfertigkeiten)

- Prerequisites: Econometrics I, Basic microeconomics, Basic macroeconomics
Overview: Students are introduced to modern experimental and quasi-experimental econometric methods for causal analysis. They are able to apply complex econometric models and are able to interpret their results as well as their limitations. They can also develop an empirical strategy for causal identification and can select and apply the appropriate econometric method for a specific research question. In the tutorial of the course, students are introduced to the statistical software Stata and how it can be used to implement the empirical methods.

Overview: The lecture gives an introduction to the economics of migration. Students are provided with the main theoretical concepts and empirical tools to evaluate the economic consequences of migration for migrants and natives. In particular, the course aims at applied empirical methods that allow the identification of causal effects. The course aims to provide students with an analytical framework and key facts, so they can critically assess related research and make informed contributions to the often controversial policy debates surrounding international migration.
