The registration for seminars of the Institute of Economics takes place in the previous semester via the Olat course "Seminar Registration MA-VWL" . Before the start of the seminar you either take part in the Seminar Preparation Course (4 hours, offered by the ZBW) or in the Module "Research and Scientific Writing" (VWLswScWr-02a). This prepares you for scientific work in economics and is therefore a prerequisite for a successful participation in the seminar.

- Inhalt
- Die/der Studierende soll die wichtigsten Konzepte und Probleme der Finanzwissenschaft kennen lernen und eigenständig auf aktuelle Fragestellungen anwenden können.
Der Staat greift in fast alle Bereiche des wirtschaftlichen Lebens ein (z.B. durch Regulierung und Besteuerung). Die Finanzwissenschaft untersucht die Tätigkeit des Staates aus ökonomischer Sicht. Ziel des Kurses ist zu verstehen, wie Staatseingriffe die Wirtschaft prägen und welche Auswirkungen wirtschafts- und steuerpolitische Entscheidungen auf Firmen und Konsumenten haben.

- Inhalt
- Economic decisions are often affected by imperfect or asymmetric information. For example, potential buyers of a second-hand good have only limited information about the goods quality; car insurance companies cannot observe the driving style of insured individuals; employers need to estimate an applicants future performance on a job, and so on. This course provides a general theoretical analysis of economic transactions in which information plays a key role. Different applications will be considered:
