Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
The course accommodates a maximum of 6 students. Interested students need to apply with a project proposal that outlines the issue which they want to explore in the course and demonstrates their familiarity with basic photographic concepts.
How to apply:
Register for the course “Visual Geography“ on OLAT (https://lms.uni-kiel.de/auth/RepositoryEntry/5284987008/CourseNode/104648107489553). Got to the folder “Documents > Application” Read the document “Information on the module Visual Geography.pdf”. Download the document “Visual Geography Application Form.docx” from. Complete the application form including 10 photos and submit your application no later than April 1st via upload to OLAT: Course „Visual Geography“ > Student Upload > Applications

Inhalt
The course provides a hands-on introduction to visual geography. Each participant will develop a photographic project, from the idea to the finished photo book. Students will gain experience of using photography to explore and communicate geographic issues. The course provides input on photographic concepts as well as photobook design. For further information check the document “Information on the module Visual Geography.pdf” on OLAT.
Please note:
This is not a beginners course in photography. Applicants should be familiar with basic concepts of photography, such as file formats (raw, jpeg, tiff), ISO, shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, the colour of light and white balance. We will work with digital cameras. You should have basic experience in processing images with Affinity Photo, GIMP, Adobe Photoshop or a comparable image editing tool.
