Inhalt
The goal is to give some insight into the field of modern ocean modelling, which is useful not only for those who have a genuine interest, but also for those who are oriented towards observations. At some part of the study and career everyone has to deal with output/analyses/publications from numerical models; in those cases it is useful to have some idea what are the ingredients, but also limitations, of ocean models.

Outline: Applications for ocean models, from the hydrodynamic equations to model code, discretization, resolution, parameterizations, input/output, verification of ocean models, model intercomparisons, actual examples.
