Ilka Thomsen studied Journalism and German Studies at the University of Hamburg and completed a Master's degree in Culture - Language - Media at the Europa-Universität Flensburg. She is a trained editor and has worked for several years as a freelance journalist, including for the Landesbetrieb für Küstenschutz, Nationalpark und Meeresschutz Schleswig-Holstein (State Agency for Coastal Defence, National Park and Marine Protection of Schleswig-Holstein, LKN.SH). In the Communications and Media team, Ilka Thomsen is responsible for editorial media work and the target group-orientated preparation of topics from GEOMAR research for various channels and products.
