Ocean Health

Ocean Health studies the health of marine organisms and of entire marine ecosystems under the effects of climate change. Research topics include the study of molecular mechanisms of host-microbe interactions, symbiosis and dysbiosis marine animal microbiomes, and research on global distribution patterns of potentially pathogenic microorganisms. Different approaches show that environmental stress (ie., warming, acidification, noise) can limit the resilience of marine organisms to diseases and in the long term, influence the biodiversity of marine ecosystems.
