Teaching

The professors and senior scientists of the department of marine geodynamics teach at Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel. Their lectures are part of the undergraduate course Physics of the Earth System and the graduate courses Master of Geophysics and Master of Marine Geosciences. Participants
The course is directed at law students (as well as non-law students with a basic understanding of international law principles pertaining to laws of war). Those participating in the Schwerpunktbereich 6: Völker- und Europarecht are especially welcome. It is also open to students participating in level 4 of the Law Faculty’s Fachspezifische Fremdsprachenausbildung (FFA). They will be given the opportunity either to obtain a certificate of regular attendance or a graded certificate, thus enabling them to fulfil the requirements for the FFA certificate.

The course is also open to students enrolled in the master programme Internationale Politik und Internationales Recht. IPIR-Students have the opportunity to get a certificate of regular attendance or, pending further consultation, a graded certificate based on an oral exam. Finally, it is open to ERASMUS students, who will obtain six European Credits for regular participation and giving a presentation.

Preparation

The course will be held in English. All students will have to give an oral introductory presentation (approximately fifteen minutes) on one of the conflicts and situations discussed in order to obtain a graded certificate. All participants are expected to read indicated parts of the provided reading materials in order to be able to discuss the conflicts that are the focus of that class.
