The Marine Mineral Resources group maintains its own laboratories for hydrothermal precipitate preparation and chemical analysis. Researchers in the group regularly employ a wide range of analytical methods, including automated sample enrichment (SeaFAST), adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry (ACSV) and direct mercury analysis (DMA).
In addition, the group has numerous other laboratories at GEOMAR at its disposal. These include the ARENA laboratory for visualization, the geochronology laboratory, the microprobe laboratory, the laser ablation ICPMS laboratory, the laboratory for radiogenic isotopes as well as clean rooms for trace metal analysis and sample preparation.
Externally, we draw on the expertise of highly specialized working groups and laboratories, such as B. transmission electron microscopy, analysis of high-purity trace elements by ICPMS and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS).
