Title
Characterization and Energy Production Strategies of Gas Hydrate Deposits in the North South China Sea
General information
The project aims at developing the methane hydrate deposits in the Northern South China Sea and devising appropriate exploitation strategies. In this context, the existing geophysical and geochemical data in the Dongsha area will be analysed in greater detail to identify geological structures for methane migration and reconstruct the formation history of the gas hydrate accumulations. Numerical simulation tools will provide quantitative estimates of the hydrate distribution underlying methane fluxes. Joint lab experiments will develop an efficient gas hydrate production technology combining depressurization and thermo-chemical activation of the methane hydrates.
