The International Geoscience Programme is a joint endeavor of UNESCO and the International Union of Geological Sciences. The main objective the symposium is to bring a world perspective of submarine mass movements and their consequences by assembling excellent contributions from active international researchers, academic institutions, and the oil and gas industry thus providing full coverage of the many scientific and engineering aspects of this type of marine and coastal geo-hazard.
