Project
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant (Ocean Glow) led by Thomas J. Browning.
The overall goal of Ocean Glow is to better understand what regulates marine primary productivity through a deeper investigation of the natural fluorescent light emitted by phytoplankton.
My role in this project uses a suite of radiometers and irradiance meters installed on research vessels to collect in situ measurements of passive fluorescence coming from the ocean. The goal is to collect data from a multitude of oceanic regions in order to understand the effect of differing biogeochemical parameters on phytoplankton fluorescence. This data will combine with highly controlled metal clean mesocosm experiments to further explicate the role of differing mechanisms on fluorescence signatures.
