An appreciative and unprejudiced working environment for all
A statement by the GEOMAR Directors on International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The Diversity Charter, signed by GEOMAR in October this year, supports an appreciative and unprejudiced working environment for all. It identifies the following seven core dimensions for this purpose: age, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, physical and mental abilities and socialbackground. On today's International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we ask ourselves: How can we create a barrier-free, appreciative working environment for them in the future?
As GEOMAR is still at the start, a Diversity Board is to be set up to collect information regarding the diversity of people at GEOMAR and develop measures for inclusive interaction. The aim is to ensure accessibility for employees with disabilities in as many areas as possible in the future and to integrate them individually into work processes for self-determined work.
Everyone is welcome to join Team GEOMAR! We encourage employees with disabilities to openly address existing disadvantages or discrimination. Contact persons at GEOMAR are first and foremost the Disabled employee advisor and also the Gender Equality & Diversity Team, which has been newly established in the Directorate.
