Due to our areas of work in the great seas of the world, we mainly rely on the medium-sized and large ships of the German research ship fleet. In addition to the FS Alkor (Mediterranean/North Atlantic), located at GEOMAR, these are mainly FS Meteor (Atlantic), FS Maria S. Merian (North Atlantic) and the new FS Sun (Pacific/Indian Ocean).
In cooperation with colleagues from all over the world, however, we are also on the road with research vessels from other nations, such as RV James Cook (UK), NO L'Atalante/NO Pourqui Pas? (both France), RV Kilo Moana/DV JOIDES Resolution (both USA), RV Falkor (private), and the RV Pelagia (Netherlands).
