Expedition: AL614/1

In June 2024, expedition AL614/1 ended with the R/V ALKOR, during which investigations into micro- and nanoplastics in the Baltic Sea were carried out under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Anja Engel.

Expedition: SO305/BIOCAT-IIOE 2

During the BIOCAT-IIOE2 (SO305) expedition in April/May 2024 with the R/V Sonne, a team of the microbial biogeochemistry group investigated processes of the biological carbon pump in the Bay of Bengal using free-drifting sediment traps.

Expedition: SO307

R/V SONNE leaving Durban Port on September 12th 2024 for the expedition SO307. Water samples collected with the CTD rosette are filtered and incubated at deep-sea temperature of 2.5°C to study the cycling of organic matter in the deep ocean.

Expedition: PS143

The R/V Polarstern travels through ice floes during expedition PS143 (June/July 2024) to the Fram Strait in the Arctic Ocean. Water samples collected with the CTD rosette are processed in the lab to study changes in biogeochemical and planktonic parameters due to fast temperature increase and acidification of the Arctic Ocean.
