ARENA2 Visualization Lab

The ARENA2 lab is foremost dedicated to visualizing bathymetry and seafloor outcrop models in the context of marine geosciences. Beyond that, though, we embrace a transdisciplinary approach stretching across the marine sciences all the way to informal education, social sciences, filmmaking and even media art.

Machine Vision Lab

The machine vision lab serves for experiments pertaining to the development and maintenance of underwater optics. We have a small tank that allows close-range experiments and calibration of intrinsic optical parameters if not focused at infinity.

Underwater Sensors Lab

Our underwater sensors lab situated in the new building 5 features a large water tank with up to 1.2m water depth and a 250Kg crane overhead. In here we calibrate underwater cameras but also acoustic sensors.
