Telepresence Infrastructure and VR Production

Our efforts in the deep ocean would not be complete without the means to stream our content in real time through the internet and to cover all activities aboard as part of a "framing plot".

Thus, our group regularly equips expeditions with simple camera, editing and streaming kits that allow streaming of high resolution, low-latency video to the internet using the SRT streaming protocol and either our own 4G router or ships C-band. We also co-authored the telepresence concept of the German research fleet.

This also means that we create 360° video on the seafloor as well as on deck and on land. Several professional camera rigs are available as a loaner, including drone based aerial cameras. Our own 360° documentaries are aimed at our ARENA2 simulator and comparable dome theatres.
