Expedition ARK XXVI-2 with RV POLARSTERN: Hausgarten

Chief Scientist: Dr. Michael Klages, AWI, Bremerhaven

Expedition ARK XXVI-2 took place between 13th of July, and 3rd of August, 2011 between Longyearbyen and Tromsoe, Norway. The first 2 dives were conducted under the direction of Dr Olaf Pfannkuche (IfM-Geomar, Kiel) in order to survey the shelf region west of Svalbard and to locate gas seeps. The second part of the mission led to the AWI longterm observatory "Hausgarten" where sampling for longterm measurements at constructions installed on the seafloor (e.g. starvation cages, flume) were taken. The last dive took place to recover a before-lost mooring.
