Expedition M78-2 with RV METEOR: MARSouth V

The expedition M78-2 with RV METEOR was conducted within the DFG priority programme "From Mantle to Ocean" (SPP 1144) between the 2nd of April and the 11th of May 2009. The expedition lead to the so-called "Southern Field", an active hydrothermal vent-field system on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR) between 4 and 11° South.

ROV KIEL 6000 was one of the main tools during this expedition and completed 15 scientific dives in water depths of more than 3000 m.
