Expedition MSM 10-3 with RV MARIA S. MERIAN: HYDROMAR VII

Chief Scientist: Dr. Nicole Dubilier, MPI for Marine Microbiology, Bremen

Expedition MSM 10-3 with RV MARIA S. MERIAN was conducted within the frame work of the DFG Priority Programme "From Mantle to Ocean" (SPP 1144) between the 4th of January to the 13th of February, 2009. The expedition led to the "Logatchevfield", a hydrothermally active vent field at the Mid Atlantic Ridge (MAR) at about 15° North.

ROV KIEL 6000 was intended to be one of the main tools, but due to adverse weather conditions, only 2 test and 5 scientific dives to water depth of approx. 3000 m could be accomplished.
