National & International Affairs

Team “National and International Affairs” supports the scientific director and science departments at GEOMAR in facilitating strategic partnerships and cooperations within Germany, Europe and beyond. Team members work closely with other GEOMAR teams on various topics, including (but not limited to): the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development with the knowledge transfer team, capacity development with the Cabo Verde team, third-party funded collaborations with the research funding team, contributions to international working groups and boards with scientific leaders, internationalization of personnel and services with the talent management and diversity teams, and marine technology collaborations with the technology transfer team.

 

Our Topics

  • The United Nations dedicated the years from 2021 to 2030 as the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. The Ocean Decade drives collaborative research and information campaigns on seven goals to create science-based solutions for sustainable development.GEOMAR is involved in various programmes and projects and engages as a network partner of the Ocean Decade Committee. The office of the German national Ocean Decade Committee (Ozeandekaden-Komitee, ODK) and German contact point for the Ocean Decade is hosted at GEOMAR.
