Expedition PS121 with RV POLARSTERN: 20 years HAUSGARTEN / FRAM

Chief Scientist: Dr. Katja Metfies, AWI, Bremerhaven

Expedition PS121 commenced on August, 10th, 2019 and led from Bremerhaven to the Fram Strait between Svalbard and Greenland. It ended on the 13th of September, 2019 at Tromsö, Norway .

Tasks of ROV PHOCA were

a) observation and video documentation of the performance of the deep sea cralwer NOMAD (including a later emergency release of the crawler)

b) sediment sampling using pushcores of a acidification experiment at the INTAROS Lander

c) Sampling of a ctenophore jellyfish using a so-called D-sampler

d) Deployment of baits and video-documentationand smapling of the scavenging faun

e) Deployment of several experiments (staining of organisms for assessing growth rates, exclusion cages, larval traps)

We conducted 5 dives.
