Experimental Ecology

The research unit Experimental Ecology investigates fundamental questions related to coastal community functioning. We aim to understand communities’ resistance and resilience to environmental changes caused by anthropogenic impacts, such as global warming, pollution and increased occurrences of invasive species. A common denominator is the joint utilization of large experimental infrastructure, such as the Kiel Outdoor Benthocosm (KOB) facility to experimentally test complex hypotheses in realistic ecological settings. The unit consists of six working groups that interact in numerous ways. Please view the group and experimental facility pages for more information.
