METEOR M80/2

As the previous one, also the second leg of METEOR expedition M80 from 26 November to 23. December runs under the scope of the collaborative research centre (SFB) 754 - "Climate - Biogeochemistry interactions in the tropical ocean". Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Douglas Wallace from IFM-GEOMAR the scientific party will perform chemical and physical investigations in the area of the Cape Verde islands and the equatorial Atlantic. Amongst other tasks, the scientists will search for a tracer which was released by the research vessel MARIA S. MERIAN in spring 2008. In addition, the scientists will investigate the oxygen and nutrition distribution in the oxygen minimum zone off the cost of west africa.
