Basic knowledge of molecular biology and laboratory work
- Inhalt
- Polymorphism types in molecular evolutionary analysis of populations (SNPs, micro-satellites, mitochondrialhaplotypes), methods for detecting polymorphisms (sequencing and length measurements), high through-put methods (next generation sequencing), experiments in population genetics (DNA extraction, PCR andsequencing), scoring of polymorphisms, statistical analysis (analysis of population differentiation, detectionof natural selection)

(1) Vorlesungen über evolutionsbiologische Ansätze um biologische Hypothesen zu testen
(2) Ein Praktikum, das zeigt wie man evolutionsbiologische Methoden im Labor oder am Computer (bioinformatische Analysen oder mathematische Modelle) umsetzt
(3) Das Lesen und die Diskussion von wissenschaftlichen Artikeln

- Nothing in Biology makes sense except in the light of Evolution (Dobzhansky, 1973). Die Evolutionsbiologie ist ein interdisziplinäres Forschungsgebiet indem neue Methoden entwickelt werden. Diese Methoden werden in Molekularer Biologie, Medizin oder Ökologie eingesetzt. In diesem Modul lernt man diese grundlegenden evolutionsbiologischen Methoden anzuwenden.
