Forschungsinteressen

  • Open ocean and coastal biogeochemistry of nitrogen, carbon and sulphur
  • Special focus on upwelling regions/oxygen minimum zones, the Polar Seas and the Baltic Sea
  • Cycling and emissions of climate-relevant trace gases (N2O, NO, CH4, CO, DMS)
  • Measurements of short-lived intermediates of the nitrogen and sulphur cycles (NH2OH, NO, DMSP and DMSO)
  • Biogeochemical time-series observations
  • 15N isotope signature of dissolved nitrate

Aktuelle Projekte

  • BASS (Biogeochemical processes and Air–sea exchange in the Sea-Surface microlayer)
  • Boknis Eck Time-Series Station (Eckernförde Bay, SW Baltic Sea)
  • CREATE II (Concepts for reducing the impacts of anthropogenic pressures and uses on marine ecosystems and biodiversity)
  • EWARP (Exchange fluxes of climate-relevant trace gases off the Western Antarctic Peninsula)
  • MEMENTO (The MarinE MethanE and NiTrous Oxide database)
  • SO305 BIOCAT-IIOE2 (Biogeochemistry/atmosphere processes in the Bay of Bengal: A contribution to the 2nd International Indian Ocean Expedition)
