General remarks

General lecture period summer semester 2024: 15.04.2024 to 12.07.2024 (with winter semester 2023/2024, 2nd exam period: 02.04. - 13.04.2024 (link CAU) - In accordance with the CAU's examination procedure regulations, there are no courses in bachelor's and master's degree programs during the examination periods (few exceptions for first semester students)).

There is no general registration for courses - only for the exams at the end of the semester during registration phases (s.b.).

Examinations:

Typical examination procedure:     

  1. Examination registration: You register for the examinations that you would like to take in the next examination period or that are assigned to the next examination period (s.b. Examination Organisation Online (CAU)). In case of registration problems contact the Examination Office Biology.

    During the registration period for the 1st examination period please register for all the written or oral examinations you would like to take in the 1st examination period (or around and assigned to the 1st examination period), but also for the examinations that you have already taken or started (e.g. seminar papers) during the lecture period (including before the registration period), as well as for examinations (e.g. assignments) that are to be taken during the lecture-free period.

    Note: For examinations taken before the registration period, examination attendance is considered as binding registration. You must also register for these examinations during the registration period, however, so that your academic achievements can be recorded in the system at a later stage.

  2. Checking admission: Two days before the start of the examination period, you check whether you have been granted admission to the examinations you have registered for.
  3. Examination attendance: You take the examinations during the examination period.
  4. Checking results: You check the results entered by the examiners.

Keep in mind - it's your responsibility not to miss any fixed dates and/or deadlines.

Practical courses, practical exercises and some seminars have compulsory attendance (FPO).

Make sure that you sign the attendance list every course day!

Framework of courses:

  1. All of the five first semester modules are compulsory.
  2. Passed core modules of the first semester (MNF-bioc-101 and MNF-bioc-102) are important for the understanding for the advanced modules of the second semester in summer (e.g. MNF-bioc-201 and MNF-bioc-202).
  3. Passed exams of ALL compulsory modules of first and second semester are the  indispensable prerequisite for the exam of the core module of third semester in winter (MNF-bioc-301).
  4. A short presentation of your planned master's thesis ("proposal day") and a passed exam at the end of MNF-bioc-301 is the prerequisite to register your thesis (MNF-bioc-401) at the examination office.

Exams are generally scheduled only for the semester where the modules are taught.

  • There are no exams for winter semester modules MNF-bioc-1xx and MNF-bioc-3xx in summer semester.
  • There are no exams for summer semester modules MNF-bioc-2xx in winter semester.

Biological Oceanography - second semester - lecture plan summer semester 2024 (click on "Stundenplan" for a complete time table).  All seven different possible practical parts in three blocks of MNF-bioc-202 are shown which looks heavily loaded - but you have to choose only two resp. three non overlapping parts.

As you can take many optional modules outside of our curriculum (CAU-wide choices) these are not included in the example lists and timetables.

ATHENA - Applied Training in Healthcare Education for commuNication Advancement

Inhalt und Ziele:Kommunikation ist schwierig - und im Theorieunterricht schwer zu vermitteln. Darin sind sich alle deutschen und dänischen Teilnehmer des Netzwerkprojektes ATHENA einig. Die aus den demografischen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen erwachsenen Herausforderungen, wie die Schwierigkeit, genügend qualifizierte Auszubildende heranzuziehen, sich schnell verändernde Anforderungen im Beruf, Stress, Burnout oder Berufswechsel von dringend benötigten Fachkräften, die Diskrepanz zwischen Theorie und Praxis und ein Imageproblem der Berufe im Sozial- und Gesundheitssektor, verstärken die Herausforderung in beiden Ländern gleichermaßen. Auf deutscher Seite kommt eine Gesetzesänderung hinzu, das neue Pflegeberufegesetz, das reell eine Angleichung an das dänische Ausbildungssystem bedeutet. Dies stellt eine einmalige Chance für die deutsche-dänische Zusammenarbeit dar.
ATHENA wird einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur qualitativen Verbesserung der Ausbildungen im Gesundheits- und Sozialwesen leisten. ATHENA wird gemeinsam mit allen Projektakteuren neue grenzübergreifende Lösungen, Strukturen, und Produkte wie hybride und virtuelle Lernkonzepte und-module für den Kommunikationsunterricht in Studium und Aus- und Weiterbildung im Gesundheits-und Sozialwesen entwickeln. Innovative didaktische Ansätze werden entwickelt, getestet und implementiert, insb. unter Berücksichtigung der Digitalisierung. Gleichzeitig wird der Austausch von Lernenden und Lehrenden der Bildungseinrichtungen gefördert und nachhaltig verankert. Hospitationen, Tandems, Partner- und Patenschaften werden initiiert und unterstützt. Die Projektergebnisse werden durch einen ständigen Austausch in Workshops, Arbeitsgruppen und gemeinsamen Projektarbeiten unter der Einbeziehung unserer Netzwerkpartner, wie z.B. PatientInnen- Vereinigungen, Praxisakteuren, Experten der Bildungseinrichtungen sowie der Lernenden und Lehrenden erzielt. Damit führen wir direkt die Arbeit des Netzwerkprojektes fort, das Aufbruchsstimmung erzeugt hat.
Der grenz- und professionsübergreifende Ansatz ist neu und einzigartig, und aufgrund einer vergleichbaren Ausgangssituation und Herausforderung ideal geeignet, um Ressourcen zusammenzulegen und gemeinsam voranzugehen.
Ziel ist es, das Qualitätsniveau in der Förderregion anzuheben und durch die Zusammenarbeit und den Austausch vor, während und nach dem Projekt Lernende und Lehrende für den grenzübergreifenden Arbeitsmarkt zu sensibilisieren.

Inhalt und Ziele:ENGLISH SUMMMARY

DAILY SDM is an EU-funded Interreg 6A Deutschland-Danmark project.

DAILY SDM aims to realize an integrated cross-border implementation of Shared Decision Making (SDM) in the Interreg region.
Demographic changes and the digitized information society present challenges across borders, especially in the healthcare sector. There is a new generation of patients wanting to take on an active role in their health management, the most important part of which arguably is: making a decision on treatment.
SDM refers to the joint, or Shared, Decision-Making process between healthcare professional and patient with the aim of identifying the most sensible treatment strategy from a medical point of view, while at the same time being best suited for, and preferred by the individual patient. Consequently, SDM is both, part of, and a prerequisite for, patient empowerment. SDM is under development in Danish and German projects alike. However, these are mostly isolated endeavors that exist in segregated habitats. These national concepts represent a positive development on the way to the healthcare system of the future and to the empowered patient. They, however, also have specific strengths and weaknesses each.
With “Nationales Kompetenzzentrum SDM” (UKSH) and the “Center for Fælles Beslutningstagning” at Lillebælt hospital, two of Europe’s most prominent SDM initiatives are located right in the middle of the Danish-German border region. DAILY SDM’s goal is to combine the two initiatives and jointly advance them as an integrated and unified strategy, which constitutes a lighthouse project for the entire EU. A common platform will emerge that has the potential to become a Europe-wide SDM reference. Not only health workers and patients will greatly benefit from this, but the entire border region as a major, innovative, and highly relevant healthcare site.
To realize this SDM flagship, we will compare existing initiatives, cross-border test promising aspects, and develop a best practice unified SDM program. For SDM to actually reach citizens, we have assembled a wide network of partners covering the entire Interreg region. The principal outcomes of the project will be a cross-border SDM concept, a region-wide SDM network, an innovative unified digital SDM training tool, digital bilingual Decision Aids, at least 100 MDs and 200 nurses trained in SDM and proper usage of the Decision Aids. The project prioritizes active target group involvement and user-driven innovation, as well as effective PR activities.

DEUTSCHE ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

DAILY SDM ist ein EU-gefördertes Interreg 6A Deutschland- Danmark Projekt.

DAILY SDM zielt darauf ab, Shared Decision Making (SDM) grenzüberschreitend in der Interreg-Region zu implementieren.
Der demografische Wandel und die digitale Informationsgesellschaft stellen grenzüberschreitende Herausforderungen dar, ibs. im Gesundheitswesen. Eine neue Generation von Patienten möchte eine aktive Rolle in ihrem Gesundheitsmanagement übernehmen, wobei einer der wichtigsten Teile darin besteht, Behandlungsentscheidungen zu treffen.
SDM bezeichnet den gemeinsamen Entscheidungsprozess zwischen Kliniker und Patient mit dem Ziel, die medizinisch sinnvollste und gleichzeitig vom jeweiligen Patienten präferierte Behandlungsstrategie zu finden. Folglich ist SDM sowohl Teil von, als auch Voraussetzung für: Patienten- Empowerment. SDM wird in dänischen und deutschen Projekten entwickelt, allerdings vollkommen separat. Diese nationalen Konzepte sind eine positive Entwicklung auf dem Weg zum Gesundheitssystem der Zukunft und zum mündigen Patienten, sie haben aber auch spezifische Stärken und Schwächen.
Mit dem „Nationalen Kompetenzzentrum SDM“ (UKSH) und dem „Center for Fælles Beslutningstagning“ (KH Lillebælt) befinden sich zwei der bedeutendsten SDM-Initiativen Europas mitten im DE-DK Grenzgebiet. DAILY SDM wird die beiden Initiativen kombinieren und gemeinsam als integrierte Strategie vorantreiben. Dies wäre ein Leuchtturmprojekt für die gesamte EU. Es wird eine Plattform entstehen, die das Potenzial hat, als europaweite SDM-Referenz zu reüssieren. Davon profitieren nicht nur Kliniker und Patienten, sondern die gesamte Grenzregion als innovativer und hochrelevanter Gesundheitsstandort.
Um dieses SDM-Flaggschiffs zu realisieren, werden wir die bestehenden Initiativen vergleichen, relevante Aspekte grenzüberschreitend testen und ein umfassendes einheitliches SDM-Konzept entwickeln. Damit SDM die Bürger tatsächlich erreicht, haben wir ein breites Partnernetzwerk aufgebaut, das die gesamte Interreg-Region abdeckt. Die wichtigsten Ergebnisse des Projekts werden sein: ein grenzüberschreitendes SDM-Konzept, ein innovatives digitales SDM-Trainingstool, digitale zweisprachige Entscheidungshilfen, sowie mindestens 100 Ärzte und 200 Krankenschwestern, die in SDM sowie der Anwendung der Entscheidungshilfen geschult sind. Das Projekt priorisiert eine aktive Zielgruppeneinbindung, anwenderzentrierte Innovation und wirksame PR-Aktivitäten.
